Is preventing allergic reactions possible?
- Avoid contact with the allergen. Probably the most obvious tip for preventing allergic reactions is to simply try to stay away from the allergen as much as possible. This includes not eating certain foods, putting on the air conditioner during peak hay fever season, and cleaning up dust mites and pet dander.
- Taking medications to counteract the symptoms. Certain medications can help with reducing or even eliminating symptoms. Ask us for a recommendation.
- Keep a diary or wear a medical alert bracelet. Keep track of what you do that seems to make things better and/or worse. A medical alert bracelet will be important for notifying you of severe allergies. We highly recommend wearing one if you've ever had a serious reaction.
