Every year, roughly three million people swallow or come in contact with a poisonous substance. Most are under the age of 5, according to HealthyChildren.com.
Here are three ways you can prevent this:
- Never share prescription medicines. If you are prescribed more than one medication, speak with a Gatti pharmacist about our Medication Management services to learn more about potential drug interactions.
- Keep cabinets locked. Any chemicals, household cleaners, medicines and other potentially harmful products out of reach of children. Take the time to also educate the little ones about the importance of recognizing the logo on harmful and hazardous items so that they can steer clear of them.
- Turn on a fan or open a window when using products containing chemicals such as household cleaners. This is not only safe to do for the children but for yourself as well.
