The term refers to several types of heart conditions including, but not limited to, coronary artery disease and an enlarged heart.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol and blood vessel inflammation are all potential factors in this diagnosis; but the good news is there are ways to prevent heart disease from happening. Here are a few:
- Eat a healthy diet. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. Eat foods that are low in saturated fats but high in fiber to help prevent high cholesterol levels, and limit your sodium intake to help reduce high blood pressure.
- Exercise regularly. Being physically active can help you maintain your weight as well as your cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
