Here are some tips you can use to achieve your goals (both realistically and healthily):
- Make it realistic. Don't shoot for the stars if you don't have a spaceship. You're asking for failure if so. Instead, make realistic goals for yourself. Pick one thing you want to change and start there.
- Take small steps. Make changes daily to incorporate this new change or goal in your life. This will help you stay committed to what you originally set out to do this year.
- Take setbacks in stride. Creating new habits is difficult, so you are bound to have some issues arise. Nothing is ever completely uphill. A career is a perfect example of this. Have a coping strategy in place so that you can deal with the setbacks and recommit to your goal(s).
- Congratulate yourself! Remember to keep track of your progress and celebrate your wins, both big and small. This will help to keep you moving forward.
These are just some simple and quick ways that you can do to regularly remind yourself of the things you are trying accomplish in 2016 to help you stay on track.
